Abstract

The software industry plays a strategic role in national development due to its potential to generate and provide technological innovations, for being an important generator of new jobs and for contributing positively to the national GDP. This work created a list of capabilities based on Resource Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities theoretical frameworks. From this list, the authors verified which capabilities are perceived as source of sustainable competitive advantage (VCS) in software solutions industry in the opinion of three owners of companies at internationalization process. To perform the multiple case study, a literature review and data triangulation using a semi-structured questionnaire and software industry reports were needed. The results did not show any capability studied as a source of sustainable competitive advantage (VCS), but  they indicate that in large companies context, social networks can be of VCS.
