Abstract

Brazilian print newspaper companies face challenges such as declining circulation, a shift to digital platforms, and changes in reader behavior, leading to the closure of some operations. However, initiatives utilizing Information Technology (IT) aim to create new revenue sources, maintaining the economic viability and sustainability of traditional newspaper businesses. The objective of this study was to identify the role of IT in revenue generation within a large company in the sector. The results indicate that IT plays a fundamental role in sustaining and adapting the declining pre-digital business of newspapers, enabling the development of their new business model. The study contributes to theory by integrating theories on the use of IT and the transformation of traditional newspapers, and in practice, it serves as a tool for decision-makers
