Abstract

This article aims to analyze the relationship between action research and developmental evaluation in the process of social innovation evaluation and development. The research was conducted in an organization that promotes education and family development, which has, among its programs and actions, a kindergarten school in Florianópolis. The theoretical framework is based on the perspective of social innovation, developmental evaluation and action research. Methodological aspects correspond to a predominantly qualitative approach, based on a case study and action research, whose data collection strategy has utilized individual and group interviews and participant observation. The research was conducted between August 2014 and November 2015. The survey results underscore the importance of action research in monitoring and evaluation of social innovation, since it promotes the development of solutions for the organization surveyed in shorter time than when of the adoption of traditional strategies of assessment (summative and formative). Furthermore, it allowed a greater approach and involvement of families in activities and programs organized by the school.
