Abstract

One of the main advantages technology offers to Information Systems is the abilty to process a gigantic amount of data simultaneously. This allows for an easier availability of   demanded infomation and access to fundamental elements  such as speed, interaction and precision, for establishing strategies. Information systems have been a key instrument  for managers to achieve competitive advantages and success in their organizations. This research tried to assess the organizational performance of the integrated management  systems (ERP) based on information technology (IT) used in  shoe retail businesses in  Cruz das Almas, state of Bahia. Applying a model   of performance analysis of information systems based on litereature, this research evaluated the performance of the systems implemented

 in the  companies which were analysed and explored some of the possible explanation for the detected differences. The research  found significant relations between levels of performance and the variables: general infrastructure quality, range of embedded systems and quality in the deployment process..
