Abstract

Evaluating the visibility of patents is of fundamental importance to analyze the means by which they are disclosed, enables the realization of a diagnosis, as well as the proposition of improvements for the management of patent disclosure at the university. This article aimed to evaluate the visibility of patents at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). To this end, the Patent Visibility Index (IVP) was applied, a methodology composed of dimensions, indicators, mathematical modeling and a classification table. The instrument used allowed a comparative analysis between the dimensions, as well as to identify the level of performance of the indicators. The visibility calculated from the PVI was 2.34, which is equivalent to moderate visibility, classified as level 3. The results of the analysis show that the university already uses several mechanisms to publicize its patents. However, there are some weaknesses that deserve more attention so that the institution achieves a higher level of visibility..
