Abstract

Business Intelligence (BI) is a strategic approach that utilizes analytical tools to generate accurate and reliable information through multidimensional databases that are subject-oriented, historical, non-volatile, and time-variant. This study applied BI to personnel management at the Federal University of Viçosa, focusing on data related to active employees who are either approaching retirement within the next five years or already eligible to retire at any time. The research addressed challenges such as the lack of integration among databases, data quality issues, and the difficulty of generating management reports in a timely manner. By applying the ETL process (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading) and using a Data Warehouse, it was possible to create analytical visualizations in the form of reports, charts, tables, and maps. The results demonstrated that the implementation of BI, using open-source tools, can generate strategic performance indicators, support managerial decision-making, and foster more efficient management in Federal Higher Education Institutions (FHEIs).
