Abstract

With the increase in accessible data, companies are using this data to gain a competitive edge in decision making, including through the use of data science techniques. This work aims to investigate the impacts of Data Science, starting from the hypothesis that managers in companies using these techniques perceive an advantage in their decision making. It involves a case study, a semi-structured interview, and the author's observations. The results of this analysis show that data science is important for the company, but still underused in some areas of the organization. Based on the perception of the manager from the studied company, practices for implementation are suggested and validated by experts.
