Abstract

You can observe an increase in individuals' concern for the environment and animal welfare. As a reflection of this concern, there has been a rise in the number of individuals choosing to avoid the consumption of animal proteins. In this scenario, this study aimed to identify characteristics and motivations of consumers that discourage the consumption of animal protein. To achieve this, an online data collection instrument was employed, which was completed by 200 people residing in the São Paulo metropolitan region. The questionnaire comprised the TEMS (The Eating Motivation Survey) scale and the consumer social responsibility scale. Based on the obtained results, it was possible to identify three profiles based on their motivators and understand the role of ethical concern as the primary influence on the anti-consumption of animal proteins.
